Yippee! Microsoft Access to be included with Office 365 Business & Business Premium plans.

A long overdue announcement has confirmed the rumours! Microsoft Access will shortly be included in the Office 365 Business and Business Premium plans, which have been specifically designed to meet the needs of small and medium-sized businesses.

What does this mean for me?
If you currently pay for Office 365 Business/Business Premium on an annual or subscription basis, Microsoft Access will automatically become available for download/use online at some point between December 1st 2016 and January 30th 2017.

All new Office 365 Business, Business Premium, ProPlus, E3 and E5 plans will include Microsoft Access from Jan 2017.

I’m sorry, what’s Access?
Very simply, Microsoft Access is an information management tool (Database) that helps you store information for reference, reporting or analysis. Microsoft Access helps you analyse large amounts of information, and manage related data more efficiently than Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet applications.

Believe it or not Microsoft Access has been part of the Microsoft family for a little over 24 years! An example Access Database can be found below:-

So what’s new with Access?
For those experienced Access users/IT Professionals, Microsoft have announced the roll out of new enterprise data connectors in early 2017. These new data connectors include OData Feed, Dynamics CRM, Salesforce and Amazon Redshift.

These new connectors will enable customers to integrate and extend Access into other line of business solutions and databases.
