SAP Business One - Management By Exception
Whilst SAP Business One has very strong Workflow controls, it also allows for management by exception, rather than stopping a business process from happening with approvals (workflow), Business One allows you to be alerted when a given situation has arisen some examples are:
A member of the Sales Team puts an order on the system with a profit margin less than agreed - their manager will get an pop up alert in their inbox or by SMS text or by standard e-mail that this has happened.
Also if an item of stock goes below minimum stock levels the Purchasing Manager would get an alert to say they needed to generate a new Purchase Order.
Basically anything that you can query in the system can be set up as an alert!
