Students from Alderman Knight School visit Quintech

March 16, 2022

Quintech were delighted to welcome a group of sixth form students from Tewkesbury’s Alderman Knight School for a tour of the premises and to learn about the different career paths available in the IT industry. Having missed out on many opportunities to gain practical experience of a working office or workshop environment over the past couple of years, the group of 15 students and staff were keen to get a feel of what working in the IT industry is all about. Exploring the offices and workshops first hand provided an understanding of some of the different and varied roles the team at Quintech have throughout the business.

Pete Grayer, Commercial Manager, gave a presentation to the group which involved an overview of a Managed IT Support provider, and the different skills required across various roles within the business from technical positions through to sales, marketing, HR and accounts. Pete commented: “It’s a pleasure for Quintech to be able to support a school which is part of our local community and who do such a fantastic job of educating the next generation of potential IT professionals. The students showed a real understanding of our business, were attentive and interested throughout and were a real credit to themselves, their teachers, and their school.

Being able to demonstrate to these pupils, many of whom are now having to seriously think about their first daunting steps into the working world, that the IT industry is able to offer many and varied roles to individuals of differing skills sets, is really important and something I think each of the students was able to take away from the visit.”
